2. Website Information and Disclaimer
The content on this website is provided for general informational purposes only. It does not constitute medical or clinical advice and must not be relied upon as a substitute for a professional clinical assessment by a qualified healthcare professional.
If you have any health concerns, always seek advice from your GP or a registered healthcare professional. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 999 or attend your nearest A&E.
Whilst we take care to ensure the information on this site is accurate and up to date, we make no warranty as to its completeness or fitness for any particular purpose.
3. Professional Registration and Insurance
Gerry McGrann is a HCPC-registered physiotherapist, which means he is bound by the HCPC Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics and must maintain fitness to practise. His registration can be verified at any time on the HCPC public register at hcpc-uk.org.
Gerry McGrann Physiotherapy holds appropriate professional indemnity insurance as required by HCPC standards and CSP membership conditions.
4. Informed Consent to Treatment
Before treatment commences, you will be asked to provide informed consent. This means you will be given a clear explanation of:
- Your assessment findings and proposed diagnosis
- The proposed treatment plan, including the techniques to be used
- The expected benefits and any potential risks or side effects
- Realistic goals and likely outcomes of treatment
- Any alternative options available
You have the absolute right to refuse or withdraw consent at any time, including during a treatment session, without it affecting the quality of care you receive from us. Withdrawing consent does not affect your right to be treated with respect and professionalism.
Consent will be recorded in your clinical notes. For any significant change in treatment approach, fresh consent will be sought.
5. Chaperone Policy
You have the right to have a chaperone (a trusted person of your choosing) present during any appointment. Please inform us in advance or at the start of your appointment if you wish to have someone present.
For patients under 16, a parent or guardian should accompany them to appointments unless consent for independent treatment has been appropriately assessed and documented in line with Gillick competence guidance.
6. Patient Responsibilities
To ensure safe and effective treatment, you agree to:
- Provide full and accurate information about your medical history, current symptoms, medications and any other relevant health information
- Inform us promptly of any changes to your health, medication or circumstances that may affect your treatment
- Disclose any known contraindications or risk factors relevant to physiotherapy treatment
- Follow the advice, exercises and home management programme provided to the best of your ability, and raise any concerns if you are unable to do so
- Treat all staff and other patients with courtesy and respect
We reserve the right to decline or discontinue treatment where a patient's behaviour is abusive, threatening or otherwise unacceptable, in accordance with HCPC and CSP guidance.
7. Appointments
Booking: Appointments can be booked through our online booking portal or by telephone. Use the website contact form for enquiries. Confirmation of your appointment will be provided.
Punctuality: Please aim to arrive on time. If you arrive late, we will provide as much of your appointment as the remaining time allows; however, the full session fee will still apply.
Cancellations: We ask for a minimum of 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or rearrange. Late cancellations or non-attendance without notice may be charged a cancellation fee, which will be communicated to you at the time of booking or in advance.
Waiting times: We will endeavour to run on time. If there is an unexpected delay, we will inform you as soon as possible.
8. Fees and Payment
Current treatment fees are available on request. Payment is due at the time of each appointment unless otherwise agreed in writing. We accept payment by cash, card or bank transfer.
If you are claiming through private medical insurance, it is your responsibility to confirm your entitlement and obtain an authorisation code from your insurer before your appointment. We cannot guarantee that your insurer will cover all treatment costs.
We reserve the right to review our fees at any time. You will be given reasonable notice of any fee changes before they apply to your appointments.
9. Outcomes and Limitations of Treatment
Physiotherapy is delivered to the highest professional standard in accordance with HCPC and CSP guidelines and current best evidence. However, we cannot guarantee specific outcomes, as individual responses to treatment vary.
We will always be honest with you about the expected benefits, limitations and prognosis of your condition and treatment. If we assess that your condition requires referral to another healthcare professional, we will advise you accordingly.
10. Emergency Procedures
In the unlikely event that you feel unwell during a treatment session, treatment will be stopped immediately and appropriate action will be taken. If a medical emergency arises, we will call 999 and provide first aid to the best of our ability until emergency services arrive.
Please inform us before your appointment of any medical conditions that may increase the risk of an adverse event (e.g. haemophilia, recent surgery, cardiac conditions, epilepsy).
11. Complaints Procedure
We are committed to providing high-quality care. If you have any concerns about your treatment or experience, please raise them with us in the first instance:
- Email: info@gerrymcgrannphysiotherapy.co.uk
- Phone: 07545 826996
We will acknowledge your complaint within 3 working days and aim to provide a full response within 20 working days.
If you remain dissatisfied, you can escalate your complaint to:
- HCPC: hcpc-uk.org/concerns — concerns about professional conduct or fitness to practise
- CSP: csp.org.uk/complaints
- The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators or another approved Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) body, if agreed by both parties
12. Equality and Non-Discrimination
Gerry McGrann Physiotherapy is committed to treating all patients fairly and without discrimination in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
